Facet infiltration
Facet infiltration involves the introduction of anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving medication directly into the small vertebral joints (facet joints) in order to treat pain caused by degenerative changes or arthritic processes.
Periradicular therapy (PRT)
The minimally invasive PRT procedure is designed to relieve irritated or pinched nerve roots by injecting medication into the area around the nerve root. Periradicular therapy is carried out under imaging control and offers an effective way of reducing back pain and improving a patient’s quality of life.
Radiotherapy
There are numerous chronic inflammatory and degenerative diseases in bone, muscle and soft tissue that are associated with severe pain and functional limitations and that can be successfully treated with radiotherapy.
Examples include painful heel spurs, tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow, activated osteoarthritis, and tendonitis and bursitis in numerous joints. The required radiation dose is far below the dose required for killing tumor tissues. Apart from the very low risk of triggering a tumor, radiation treatment has almost no side effects.
The pain may increase slightly at the beginning, but that is generally a good sign for the later treatment success, which is around 70-80%.
Overall, this treatment inhibits both acute and chronic inflammatory processes.
